Fate (Fate #1), by Elizabeth Reyes

Fate is a Moreno Brothers spinoff series

When Rose tagged along with her big sister to a baby shower the last thing she expected was to meet a guy. But this wasn't just any guy. This was the exciting, sexy as sin, way out of her league black sheep of his family--Vincent Moreno. Even more surprising, this heart-stopping bad boy seemed interested in her.

Fate always had a way of interfering in Vince's best-laid plans. His forced attendance to his annoyingly perfect cousin's baby shower was no different. He was sure to be bored out of his skull, but instead, he met sweet little Rosie Zendejas.

What begins as a unlikely friendship between two very different teens turns into one of the most intense and passionate relationships that neither ever saw coming. But just like it had so many times in Vince's troubled past, Fate steps in once again, threatening to take away the one thing he can't seem to even breathe without now--Rose.

Fate Series Book 1

Fate by Elizabeth Reyes
Fate Series Book 1
Vince's knack for doing without thinking seemed to get him into quite a few messes. Even if it was a good thing he was doing....for him it ended up badly. Only this time being grounded and forced to attend his cousin's baby shower ended up pretty well. He met Rose. Getting to know her caused him to want to be a better man, one worthy of this faultless beauty. Would fate step in and be for or against him this time?

Rose Zendejas didn't have the easiest of lives. Her mother didn't really care for her daughters but at least Rose had her sister Grace. Once Sal and Grace married they let Rose come and live with them. Life was better than ever before, a good neighborhood, better school and Vince. He had a rough history but promised her he was on the straight road. Only it seems that road had a pot hole in it.

Fate takes up the romance of Vince and Rose that started in book 5 of the Moreno Brothers Series, Making You Mine (Sal and Grace's story). The author took our young couple down a different path in this book adding a bit of reality by bringing Vince into Iraq. A page turner as always with all of her books. For Moreno fans....the guys and gals have plenty of cameo appearances in Fate....including a quick stint with Max, Manny and Aida. And even though Romero is not a Moreno....you may find that he and Vince have something in common.

Fantastic Read This I promise you...
By Amanda Clark
Once again the author captures the readers heart with yet another Moreno brothers book! A spin off from the series involves Vincent Moreno, cousin to the infamous Angel, Alex, Sofia and Sal. When Vinnie meets Sals girlfriends little sister Rose all bets are off! They unwisely click and begin a long distance friendship that worries the family due to Vinnies troubled past. Rose takes a chance and gives him the benefit of the doubt. They soon find out young love is complicated...

I am so in love with this series I just can't begin to express my affection! I knew this story would be amazing and from the first chapter I was teary eyed yet excited about the journey through this book. For those of us who read the series we know the last book Making you mine left us wondering about Vinnie and Rose. Fate gives us a look back and then forward as these two navigate around lifes trials of young love. This book was amazing! I couldn't put it down, I don't even think I got any work done today! I was an emotional wreck going from crying to laughing to being angry within several pages! It definitely keeps you guessing and biting your nails until the end. I adore Vinnie, but how could you not love a Moreno. The author really knows how to make you fall in love with her men!!! It was just an overall beautiful experience reading Fate and I hope to see more from this family!!

Like saying hello to old friends
By Book Worm
3.5 stars Reading parts of Fate was a little like saying hello to old friends you have missed and learning about all the stuff that has happened while you were away. Other parts were like hearing the same tale from somebody elses perspective. It was so familiar sitting their getting littles bits of information on the Moreno Brothers, while learning more about Rose and Vince. Fate is of course a new spin off series from The Moreno Brothers series, and the beginning is a complete rehash of part of Making You Mine (The Moreno Brothers), only of course told focusing on Rose and Vince. It, of course, provides more details and you get to see how the attraction / relationship started between them. It was really sweet to read the beginning of the book and although I had basically read it before it interesting to get more details. As with her previous books starring Moreno's Vince and Rose have passion, and of course the big misunderstanding/incident which causes them to separate. The misunderstanding is a good one, and written well. The consequences make for an interesting read and character building. However, they also make for a much heavier story.

Vince and Rose are very likable characters. Rose is the `good girl', but not in an annoying nauseating way, but in a realistic and honest way. She tells it like it is, but is just genuinely nice. She knows what goes on around her and makes choices she wants, that she thinks will be best for her. I liked this. Vince is the `bad boy', who wants to reform for Rose. Vince is also up front and honest with Rose, he does not hold back his past, and Vince holds true to his surname of being a Moreno, by being a young alpha in the making.

All these bits make the book easy to read and similar to The Moreno Brothers series. However, there is one noticeable difference between Fate and The Moreno Brothers, and that is there is a HUGE chunk of the book where Rose and Vince are not together. Part of this is because they live 2 hours apart and just text each other, and the other part is they literally are not together (for a huge percentage of the story). Because of this I missed the playful banter that Ms Reyes is so good at writing, yes it is there for the texting, and when Rose and Vince are actually together, but not the rest. I really enjoy the way Ms Reyes writes interactions between her characters. I wanted to read more of Rose and Vince together, because those bits were the best. But because Rose and Vince were apart so much I have to also say that a times I felt like I was being `told' about them and what was happening rather then shown by them and being able to experience it with. I think another reason for this could also be the time frame of the story, it jumps back and forth. At times things are told in alot of detail and then other bits seemed rushed, and could have been told in more detail. I don't really want to point out specific examples here or it would give the story away (if you ask I will provide).

I enjoyed Fate, but whereas I have reread the all Moreno Brothers (except Sweet Sophia) a number of times, I don't know if I will reread this one. However, I will read the next book in the fate series.
Will I read it again? Probably not
Would I recommend it? Yes, to fans of Ms Reyes. To anyone that has not read her work, start at the beginning.
