Sisters with suspense

I must say this book was good from the first chapter. Didn't take long for the action and drama to start and once it did the pages couldn't turn fast enough. Def had me wondering what would happen next. This book has some smiles and some smh moments. Def a great read and another banger fom Author Jade Jones

Ebony =Sociopath and Ivory=Gullible Fool

First off I want to say that either I read too fast or these books are getting shorter. I finished this book in less than three hours but anywho.

This is the story of twin sisters Ebony and Ivory,, and from the start Ebony stayed scheming. Not sure how Ivory was blind to all of it but I guess she just overlooked her sisters flaws. Ebony was jealous of her sisters relationship with her cheating disease passing man Black for some reason. Maybe it was because she lived in a roach infested ghetto apartment and her sister didn't.

What baffled my mind was all Ebony did was stay scheming but drove a old Ford Tempo and has roaches. She claimed she "played" crazy to get her SSI check but soon on I figured out it was no act, she deserved that check.

What was also odd to me was how Ivory had everything she could want from her man how and why did she let Ebony convince her to go to strip with her in the first place. You would think she would feel it was beneath her or be ashamed that someone would know who she was on stage and tell her man. I mean who drives a Aston martin to go dance at some hole in the wall club???

I will not spoil the rest if the story but I figured the rest out pretty fast, nothing surprising at all. It was a okay read but nothing game changing. Also on a sidenote if your sister is mistreating her son/YOUR nephew if you dont say anything or at least try and step in you are just as trifling as her, maybe worse cause you seem to know better.

I just took off another star , I initially gave it 4 stars but the more I think about it its really only 3 IMO.

Double Trouble

Jade Jones has done it again with her ability to pull in the reader from the very first page. In this twisted tale we meet Ebony and Ivory a set of twins who are definitely not double the pleasure!

Ebony is the malicious scorned and for lack of a better word (trifling) twin, who is hell bent on having things her way just because she has made life for herself miserable. She wants nothing more than to have it all and will destroy whomever she has to, to get what she wants including her son CJ and her twin Ivory.

Ivory is the gulliable twin who sees nothing but the good in all people and is meek and wants nothing more than have the love of her boyfriend Black and to please her twin Ebony which leads her down a path of destruction

I do not want to give anything away and spoil it for the readers but you will enjoy this five star fire by Ms. Jones! She has once again captivated me and kept me entertained with the drama of these siblings! They bring a new meaning to sibling rivalry!

The pursuit of your highest truth.

In what I call his trilogy of good books with this one as it's finally, Richard Bach espouses the idea that you create your own reality, “state your limitations and sure enough they are yours,” for example. In Jonathan Seagull, Jonathan was a seagull that refused to be defined by the ‘reality’ his grey seagull friends insisted upon him. He would defy those norms by transcending to a higher reality. In Bach’s next book Illusion, he carries that thought into practice as the main character is ‘the reluctant messiah’. Essentially the book espoused the idea that only you can form the life you are experiencing. You can accept the reality placed upon you by the circumstance life has placed upon you. Or you can take responsibility without seeking a messiah to save you. I know this sounds like anti Christianity, to many who needed to escape from the church in that era. But actually all of this comes to a crystallized message consistent with Christ’s message in The Bride across Forever, which his actually a true story, his autobiography . This book is a love story. Life together starts with, is, and ends with love.

In Bach’s true to life story he examines the ideas of soul-mate and life-mate. Is there a one-to-one relationship? I look with envy to those who were lucky enough to go through one life with one life-mate. Ever wonder if through all that hard work, are you with your soul-mate? Richard Bach and Leslie Parish come together from life experiences that include divorce. So, maybe not. Both were happy being single in their post divorce lives, knowing that when that life-mate to soul-mate appears they would do the right thing.

Focusing on Bach and his inner thoughts, his logic being selfish, began with the idea that in life there is no perfect ‘soul-mate’ woman, and a soul-mate is an amalgamation of many women from past lives. Thus he had many women in his life only to come to the reality that they were superficial relationships, lacking the willingness to experience the ‘give-and-take” lessons of life. Leslie’s character in the book did not explore the pursuit of love but of causes. Her career and causes filled her life.

When Richard met Leslie, it was on an elevator. It was a coincidental moment where there was an energy, with no realized rationality. Later the rose would bloom. Through much conversation between the two Richard came to a ‘new reality’. Is she the one? Sex crept into the story which threw a new dynamic. Will the tradition of monogamy, imply ownership of each other’s daily lives? I call this the superficial special love that is overwhelmingly oppressive, obsessive, and ultimately selfish; fraught with all the misery that jealousy brings to the psyches and tares at the soul. They work their way through this by facing extreme challenges brought on to them by those who surrounded Richard. Together they each learned to bend as the rose does to the sun, toward each other. Here is where Richard found love true love, a soulmate. He actually found truth and what real love as opposed to special love conceived in selfishness, is.

A timeless book......

This book was not written with a romance novel attitude. I know as many men who have read Bach as women since it's written from a man's perspective without "flowy" words. This book is my favorite and I'm so happy to have it in hard copy. It is studied in many schools.

By the way, Richard Bach is the grandson of the composer....fun trivia.

Freedom and capitalism

It's rather amazing that 30 years after her death, more and more people are reading Atlas Shrugged. Some people would say that her writing was terrible. Do you think her terrible writing is the reason why more people are picking up this book? NO OTHER freedom or capitalism writer will stand the test of time as Ayn Rand. She was able to convey her message to the common people. Something that most economists and freedom writers often fail to do. What she accomplished was to make people realized why we must fight for capitalism. It is about freedom and no other system have lifted so many people out of poverty and misery as capitalism. To judge her writing and ignore the great message displays an extreme degree of ignorance.

Excellent and everyone should read it. I could not put this down. I read this through 22 hours of flight time and still could not stop until I finished the book. For me personally, this was a very disturbing read. A fiction novel written over 50 years ago and the story could have been written as a non fiction reflecting what has been happening in the last several years in the political systems of today. Those that work hard for what they earn and being made to feel guilty by those who don't want to work and want to be given everything. The characters are appealing in their humanity.
I will be honest and say I had not heard of this book until seeing something about it on a recent Glen Beck show. I am so glad I have found Ayn Rand as an author.

Topic is enlightening for 1957, appropriate today. It is as if Rand was looking into a crystal ball. Ms. Rand is a very good writer, however I think sometimes she is a little longwinded. I have enjoyed reading Atlas Shrugged, drawing parallels to situations today, but I think I would have hated it if I had to have read it in High School in the 60's

Great teaching resource find

Hi my name is Hetsie. I have an MA in Education and am currently working as an English language teacher, teaching beginner classes. A couple of days ago I was desperately trying to find a reading that would be suitable for my class, something the students would find easy to read, that had educational value and that was well written. Browsing along on Amazon I came across Carme Sevenster's book, "What do you see: Our Solar System." It was such a great find. It had everything I was looking for. It was clearly written, easy to read, had useful educational information as well as being entertaining and funny. I loved the rhymes, the illustrations were great and my students really enjoyed reading it. I can't wait for more "What do you see," books.

An Awesome Book

I was so impressed that I showed this book to my mother who is a Secondary School Geography teacher. We both loved it. We love the illustrations because it appeals to children and it is factually correct. We like the rhyming of the sentences which is a feature of a good children's book. The format is fantastic. The pages are clean and easy to read. I think the mouse is sooo cute. Excellent introduction for children to the universe.

This book does an excellent job of making the theory amusing and yet explaining it in a fun way for the younger child. The rhyming and illustrations are beautiful, my children just love it. I highly recommend this book to parents, teachers and home-schoolers.

About the Author
Dorris Alexander “Dee” Brown (1908–2002) was a celebrated author of both fiction and nonfiction, whose classic study Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee is widely credited with exposing the systematic destruction of American Indian tribes to a world audience. Brown was born in Louisiana and grew up in Arkansas. He worked as a reporter and a printer before enrolling at Arkansas State Teachers College, where he met his future wife, Sally Stroud. He later earned two degrees in library science, and worked as a librarian while beginning his career as a writer. He went on to research and write more than thirty books, often centered on frontier history or overlooked moments of the Civil War. Brown continued writing until his death in 2002.

AN OUTSTANDING NOVEL BASED ON HISTORICAL FACTS

This novel concerns Mary Musgrove who was the Creek wife of John Musgrove, an Indian Trader who had a trading post near the Savannah River when Oglethorpe brought the first settlers to Georgia in 1731. After Mary's husband was killed, she was eventually forced to abandon her home and people. The novel sets out the problems she encountered and follows her children (Mary's Blood) on the trail of tears westward and ends up with some of her decendants involved in the battle of Little Big Horn. This novel transports the reader into the person of Mary Musgrove and allows us to feel the pains endured by the natives of this country during a period of disgraceful acts committed by some of our forefathers in the name of patriotism.

A MUST READ!! A gripping Native American story

I read this book for the first time in high school. I have read it a couple times since then. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in the Native-Americans, their beliefs and customs. In this novel, Dee Brown, captures all their feelings from betral of the white man for unmercifully taking their homelands and the fear of being wiped out like the buffalo to the pride in their people and their faith in spirits who guided them through those devastating years. The story pulls you in and you become one of the Native-Americans, experiencing every joy and pain.

One of my favorite books one worth reading more than once

Creek Mary's Blood informs the reader about the good and bad of the Cherokee life. The reader becomes part of Mary's family and feels their pain.This is a book I will read over and over.I recommend this book if you have any interest in Native American history. I wish it was recommened reading for high school students.

About the Author

Michael “Tinker” Pearce is a world-renowned sword-maker and author of The Medieval Sword in the Modern World. He is a student of historic European martial arts and also works with Subutai Corporation as a fight choreographer and consultant.

Linda S. Pearce has worked in the high-tech industry for over twenty years and is active in the animal rescue community. The two met at a renaissance faire and fell in love immediately. They are now married and live in Seattle with six dogs and two cats.

They are also the authors of the fantasy novel, Diaries of a Dwarven Rifleman.

A fun, engrossing read

I loved this story and would have given it five stars if it were a complete novel. This is just the introduction to a much longer story and cuts off just when the adventure is about to begin. Though incomplete, it was well written and entertaining throughout.

Because the story was so short I did not fully understand the plot. Who were the Danes that mysteriously appeared in their midst chasing the boatload of elite warriors? What were they after, and what were the warriors doing there in the first place? I assume these questions will be answered in later editions, but it is frustrating to buy a book, read the entire thing, and and be left with these questions.

One part that I found troubling was the way the authors dealt with the thralls. Although described as members of the household, they were slaves, probably captured in long ago raids. To write of them as happy, sex-loving servants did them a disservice. But, the authors were creating heroes in a slave-owning society. Perhaps they felt the only way to include thralls (as historical authenticity demanded) and keep the heroes heroic (under modern sensibilities) was to describe the thralls as happy. In this novel they could even choose their sexual partners!

Don't be put off by what I said about thralls. This is only a short part in a great story and I am sensitive on the subject. This is NOT a full novel, so don't buy this expecting one. Just enjoy what you get and know that if you like the introduction, you'll be shelling out more cash to find out what happens next.

I read the Mongoliad with an avid enthusiasm that prompted me to try out some of the shorter books in the Foreworld Saga that have spun off that project. these are much shorter novellas that take place within that same fictive semi-historical universe as the Mongoliad. Shield Maiden is one of these. Like most of these, it is full of loose ends that apparently will have to wait for other writers to tie up in further installments to the series. In style and content it stands out as one of the better pieces in this series. I'm ready to learn more about this mysterious order and its female heroes.

A Foreworld Sidequest. A short story of Sigrid who is a Shield Maiden during her first battle and what she discovers about herself and her talents. Set in what is basically Viking times. I have no other knowledge of this universe and bought this because a relative of a friend wrote it and I admit to liking to support friends and their relatives. Sue me. I didn't expect to be as drawn into it as I was considering I had no familiarity with the world but it was written so that it wasn't necessary. There is some backstory going on that I think would explain some other things that were side plots of this particular story and I'm intrigued enough that I have put the first couple of actual books from this series onto my wishlist. If they are as well written as this, I will be a very happy reader.
